And what, I wonder, does 2022 have in store for us?
We usually enter a new year with the excitement of knowing that we have this holiday booked or that weekend booked or some event or other coming up but this year we've got relatively little in the diary!
One holiday we do have in the diary is to Croatia in June which is for our friends' wedding (at which Rosie is a bridesmaid so we kind of have to go. Mel - if you're reading this we're very excited to go!).
But before then we have a weekend in Worcestershire in a couple of weeks at a potential wedding venue where the Cox's and the Hetterley's will meet for the first time! And then another wedding in February of one of my former trainees (they grow up so fast!).
So only three things in the diary so far and they all relate to somebody's wedding!
Which means we want to be doing something about the extra timber we've started carrying since we started eating and drinking in Mexico. (I blame the all-inclusive resort followed by Christmas cheese and chocolates but I suspect the damage was started before either of them.)
And so, with that in mind, we've signed up for a virtual challenge to walk or run 125km (Rosie) and 275km (me) by the end of February. I'm also going to try and log at least one activity of exercise everyday. A friend of mine logged something every day last year, even if it was just a walk to the shops and back, and now I've been inspired to do the same, or at least try! I'm also going to try and plan some marathons in for the year (as you do!) and move my park run targets along too. I realise these sound like my goals but I'm sure Rosie isn't going to snub the opportunity for a weekend away from time to time!
Other than that it's little bits around the house and garden; hopefully a lot of the hard graft has been done in 2020 and 2021 so we can enjoy the fruits of our labours this year.
Oh, and there's our own wedding to plan and everything that involves, too, especially as it's now NEXT YEAR!
So not much in the diary but I'm sure the year will be filled with lots of laughs, good times and happy memories! :)
